Former Kaizer Chiefs player Junior Khanye has predicted his top three teams by the end of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season, but he didn’t include Soweto giants, Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
The iDiskiTV analyst has made his top three predictions ahead of Friday night’s season opener between 2021/22 runners-up Cape Town City and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
“This week I want to pick three teams which I think will finish in the top three at the end of the season,” Khanye wrote in his iDiski Times column.
“3. Cape Town City. Eric Tinkler is an excellent coach. He qualified this club for the CAF Champions League last season. They have kept Thabo Nodada and Mduduzi Mdantsane, so those players will feel like new signings. They will have a brilliant season.
“2. Royal AM – Shauwn Mkhize has proven that money is not an issue for her. She pays her players really well. What she has done well is to rope in Daniel Malesela. That’s a serious coach. Khabo Zondo is also very experienced as a coach, so I think it will be a good combination. Players like Mxolisi Machupu, Tebogo Potsane will have a great impact this season. I see this club qualifying for the CAF Champions League.
“1. Mamelodi Sundowns will win the league. It’s very simple. They have experienced coaches, quality players and an incredible support structure to make them succeed. They will win the league and more trophies this season.”
