Kaizer Chiefs target Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana will not return to his former club, despite contrasting reports in local media.
Bimenyimana, 24, was on trial at Kaizer Chiefs, but has since left the club, with iDiski Times understanding he was awaiting for official communication from the Soweto giants.
The Burundi internationa, who ironically scored a goal in FNB Stadium for his country in a 1-1 draw against Namibia in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, had scored two goals in three pre-season outings for Amakhosi.
On Monday, Bimenyimana’s former club Rayon sport posted an image of the striker after he appeared at the club’s ‘Rayon Sport Day’, where their new signings were presented – the social media post was captioned “he’s back”, however the club’s coach Christian-Francis Haringingo stated the striker will not re-join his club.
“About Caleb, he won’t play in Rwanda,” Haringingo said, as per Goal.
The coach also confirmed that his country man currently has offers from outside Rwanda, one believed to be from SuperSport United and one from an unnamed Israeli club.
“I stay with him very often, he has not less than three offers, what’s left for him now is to decide where he will go,” Haringingo added.
“But for now I can tell you he will not play in Rwanda.”
Chiefs, meanwhile, are yet to find the striker Arthur Zwane is desperately seeking to add to their squad. The recent injury of Ashly Du Preez has left them short of forward options.
