According to President Cyril Ramaphosa, the country is making positive strides in achieving gender equality.
Cyril Ramaphosa added that his office is working towards enacting policies aimed at the advancement of women.
He said, “we want to see an increase in the representation of women in all respects.”
“In our parliament, we are seeing more and more women being represented. In the judiciary we are seeing more and more women progressing forward… in public service, in the armed forces, as well as, in the police, and in many local councils we are getting closer and closer to gender parity.”
“In the cabinet that I lead, there is parity between men and women and we have made sure we will keep that 50/50 balance in the cabinet of the Republic of SA.”
“In order to advance women, there must be policies and laws that advance women. Our laws and policy must have a bias towards improving the lives of women.”
