Richards Bay have officially been banned by FIFA over issues relating to payments of former player Ovella Ochieng.
The Kenyan international joined the Natal Rich Boys in January 2023 from Township Rollers but only made eight appearances for the club.
It is understood that Bay opted to part ways with the play, who had still one year outstanding on his contract, but failed to stick to their settlement agreement, as first reported by SABC Sport.
Ochieng, who already had a similar case with Marumo Gallants in 2022, took the matter to the FIFA’s Disciplinary Resolution Chamber, which ruled in his favour.
FIFA have subsequently banned Bay from registering players for three transfer windows, with the ban starting from 12 April.
They join Royal AM, who are currently also banned from signing players over issues relating to payments of former players Samir Nurkovic and Ricardo Nascimento.
Meanwhile, Polokwane City and Chippa United saw their recent transfer bans lifted by the world football mother body after settling their disputes.
