South African unemployment will worsen due to Bheki Cele with the order to arrest people who are not wearing mask in public to curb the spread of the virus, NGO talks.
Bheki Cele announced that about 7000 people have been arrested for not wearing masks. Howard Dembovsky says the arrest will limit the chance of being hired and it will increase unemployment rate in the country.
Arrest are made in a fact that President Cyril Ramaphosa and Health Minister has pleaded to people to wear masks when they go out in public to not spread the virus or not be infected by Covid-19. The virus is declared as airborne and people need to wear mask.
How Covid-19 is spread
Between people through direct, indirect contact or through close contact with infected people via mouth or nose secretion.
These include saliva, respiratory secretion or secretion droplets. These are released from the mouth or nose when infected person coughs or sneeze, speak or sing.
To avoid contact with these droplets, it is important to stay at least 1 meter away from others, clean hands frequently, cover your mouth by use of a cloth mask.
Some people are following the health protocols given by the government while other they are not. All these instructions are to help to curb the spread of Covid-19. Those who will not wear mask will face imprisonment of up to 6 months or a hefty fine, government order.
“The effect of criminal record for everyone are horrible. No work opportunities. No Visa for 10 years minimum. If arrested and fingerprinted, paying the admission of guilt fine means a definite criminal record.” Howard Dembovsky’s words.
“It is only an offense to refuse to put a mask when instructed to do so by enforcement officer. How many people are brave enough to refuse to put one on when a cop tells him/her to do it?” Howard adds to questions of legitimate arrests.
He says that the court is overcrowded with serious crimes case and it is unseen to accommodate lockdown offenders. On Tuesday Bheki Cele announced that over 342,000 people have been arrested for contravening the Disaster Management Act since March 2020.
Wearing a mask is mandatory and people caught without one in public, are committing and offense. The wearing of masks is both for your safety and the safety of others around you. Words from Bheki Cele.
