Cape Town City are closing in on signing South Africa U15 and School Of Excellence star Emile Witbooi, who was also a target of Mamelodi Sundowns.
Witbooi, who is the son of Cape Town Spurs winger Surprise Ralani, has been one of the most talked-about youngsters in the country since making his breakthrough at School Of Excellence and junior national team.
The 15-year-old earned his first national team call-up early last year when he went to represent South Africa’s U15 in the UEFA U16 International Development Tournament in Poland.
In July, he was named Midfielder of the Tournament and Player of the Tournament during the SAFA U15 Inter-provincial Tournament.
The exciting youngster has previously been linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United as well as DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns and while Sundowns made a lucrative offer, City have won the race for his services.
Witbooi has already landed in Cape Town ahead of his expected move, with paperwork still to be finalised.
City have had a good eye when it comes to talent, as the likes of Luphumlo Sifumba, who claimed so many accolades at the youth level, and Luyolo Slatsha are two great examples who have broken into the first team.
Recently Jaedin Rhodes, also graduated through the club’ DStv Diski Challenge team, scored the second goal for City in the Cape derby against Cape Town Spurs, which was already his fourth strike this season.
