Three people have been arrested in connection with the attack on two black teenagers at the Maselspoort Resort in Bloemfontein during the Christmas celebrations.
The trio was nabbed on Wednesday morning after a video surfaced on social media earlier in the week showing the group pushing, strangling, and holding two siblings underwater.
Two of the men have already been charged with common assault and crimen injuria, and the third is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Johan Nel, 33, of Bothaville, and Jan van der Westhuizen, 47, of Brandfort, are the first to face charges in connection with the alleged racially motivated attack on two black teenagers at the Maselspoort Resort.
“The matter was postponed to 25 January 2023 while being released on warning.”
According to Motantsi Makhele, a Free State police spokesperson, Nel and Van der Westhuizen appeared in court on Wednesday.
A third suspect, a 48-year-old man, is scheduled to appear in Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Thursday on an attempted murder charge.
The Nakedi siblings said they were told they couldn’t swim in the communal pool because it was only for white people.
