A 63-year-old grandfather has been apprehended on charges of rape and sexual assault. The alleged incidents occurred at his residence on Arum Drive, Mossel Bay, where he reportedly raped his 13-year-old granddaughter on three separate occasions.
The assault took place on Thursday, 23 November 2023. Upon receiving the report, the authorities swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the suspect at his Mossel Bay residence on Sunday, 26 November 2023.

The accused is expected to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 28 November 2023.
In another unrelated case, members of the same unit arrested a 22-year-old man on a charge of statutory rape. The incident allegedly took place earlier this year at Nzonza Street, Mossel Bay, where the victim, a young girl, was violated. The mother of the victim reported the matter to the police on Friday, 24 November 2023.
Following a thorough investigation, the suspect was apprehended, and he is scheduled to appear in the local court on Monday, 27 November 2023.
In a separate incident, the Knysna police arrested a 33-year-old man on a charge of attempted murder. The incident occurred at Chungwa Street, Khayalethu in Knysna on Saturday, 25 November 2023, at approximately 16:00.
It is alleged that the suspect hit a 3-year-old victim with a brick during an altercation at a house, resulting in serious head injuries.

The victim was immediately admitted to a hospital in George for urgent medical care. The suspect is currently detained at the Knysna police station and is scheduled to make his initial court appearance in the Knysna Magistrates’ Court on a charge of attempted murder.
