SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt says the disrespect on national team head coach Hugo Broos has to stop.
The Bafana-Bafana mentor has often come under criticism on several matters including his selections and sometimes his tactics in matches.
The coach has also in the past been unable to access DStv Premiership matches and bemoaned the lack of communication with PSL coaches.
Hunt spoke to iDiski Times Senior Writer Velile Mnyandu in the current edition of the newspaper at the CAF A License Course.
Hunt revealed that he has had conversations with the former Africa Cup of Nations winning coach though not going into details on the talk.
He feels Broos deserves more respect than he is currently getting. Hunt adds that the Belgian deserves a chance and he is someone South African coaches can learn from.
“We exchanged and he told me what his thinking is,” Hunt told iDiski Times.
“He asked me about players and I gave him my opinion because it’s only about opinions of players. What I think, what I don’t think and he’s a fantastic guy. And you know a guy like that we should be tapping into his knowledge.
“He’s more knowledgeable. He’s older than all of us. He’s played at the highest level, he played in a World Cup. He’s played at a top level. He’s coached teams that won and I don’t think we respect him enough.
“I don’t think we give him his time of day enough and I think it’s been a bit disrespectful, what’s happened to him from what I hear. He’s told me a few stories and I was very disappointed because we shouldn’t be like that.
“He’s got my full support and you could learn so much from the guy. We should be tapping into his knowledge and how we can improve things in South Africa. I wish him well in January and I hope it’s really successful. I really do”
