South Africa’s most watched daily soapie Uzalo has seen a mass exit of actors over the past three months.
Actress Omuhle Gela announced her exit from the show last month due to contract disagreements.
Gela acted the role of Nomaswazi Magwaza a daughter of a crime boss who wanted to take over the ropes of leading the family.
Weeks later it was reported that Pastor Gwala and Nosipho were also exiting the show.
According to tabloid newspaper, Daily Sun, Durban Gen actress Fanele Ntuli who acts as Dr Zondo on the show has joined Uzalo replacing Omuhle.
An insider confirmed this new development saying the deal is final and she will be onscreen as soon as Omuhle’s prerecorded scenes are over.
“The deal between Fanele and Uzalo has been finalized. As soon as Omuhle’s prerecorded parts end, viewers will see the new Nomaswazi – Fanele,” said the insider.
Another insider solidified the claimed saying, “She was lucky to find a job after Durban Gen. After it was cancelled, actors were left frustrated and unemployed. I’m happy for Fanele, and we think that she is the perfect replacement.”
Speaking about the developments Uzalo spokes person, Nomfundo Zondi confirmed Omuhle’s exit and also revealed that her character will not be written off but did not reveal who the replacement was.
