Enock Ngobeni, a 31-year-old poacher from Mozambique, has been found guilty and handed a 22-year prison sentence for the unlawful killing of two rhinos within Kruger National Park.
The verdict was delivered at the Skukuza regional court on Tuesday.

Ngobeni faced charges related to poaching and admitted his guilt, which included trespassing, violating the Immigration Act, two counts of rhino killings, conspiracy to commit a crime, and possession of a dangerous weapon.
The incident took place in April when rangers patrolling the Tshokwane section discovered two rhino carcasses.
Following footprints, they apprehended Ngobeni and an unidentified accomplice, who managed to escape and remains on the run.

During the trial, DNA evidence confirmed that the rhino horns in their possession matched those of the carcasses found in the Tshokwane section.
The Mpumalanga National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) regional spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa, expressed satisfaction with the swift resolution of the case and welcomed the conviction and sentence.
