PALM SPRINGS. – A dark cloud continues to hang over Tharabollo Secondary School as tragedy strikes once more with the stabbing death of another pupil within the school premises.
Last year, the school was rocked by the murder of 20-year-old Thabo Xaba, a grade 10 pupil, who was fatally stabbed allegedly over earrings.
Now, the school mourns the loss of 18-year-old grade 11 pupil Thabo Motaung, who fell victim to a stabbing attack last Thursday, May 02, reportedly by a 19-year-old fellow pupil.

According to sources close to the investigation, Motaung’s death is being attributed to gang violence.
It is alleged that some learners are associated with rival gangs operating from Orange Farm and Evaton West (Mkhelele).
The tragic incident occurred when learners from Tharabollo Secondary School reportedly visited Lakeside Secondary School.
During their visit, they forcibly entered the premises, causing damage to the school gates and windows.
Following the attack, an act of vengeance occurred when the Lakeside gang went to Tharabollo where the 19-year-old fell victim when he was stabbed.
Police were called to the scene, where they found, Thabo Motaung being rushed to Sebokeng Hospital. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries en route.
Confirming the incident, Police spokesman Captain Teboho Lephoto stated, “We can confirm that an 18-year-old is behind bars for murder. At this stage, the motive is unknown, and further investigation will be conducted.”
The National Association of School Governing Bodies (NASGB) has expressed condolences.
“The association sends its heartfelt condolences to the family and school for the untimely death of Motaung, a Grade 11 boy learner at Tharabollo Secondary School in the Sedibeng West district SW 8,” said NASGB Secretary, Thabiso Radebe.
