Former Cape Town City midfielder Thato Mokeke has signed up with Ernst Middendorp’s Cape Town Spurs for the remainder of the season.
After five seasons at the club, Mokeke was released by mutual consent by City earlier this year, as he was out with a long-term injury.
But the 33-year-old had been doing his rehabilitation at Spurs, a club he played for earlier in his career when they were known as Ajax Cape Town.
Now, having recovered a little earlier than expected, Mokeke has joined up with Spurs, making his debut for the relegation-threatened club against Sekhukhune United on Saturday without ever being officially announced by the club.
The experienced Kimberly-born utility player is playing his 14th season as a professional, having come through the academy at SuperSport United, before joining Ajax in 2010.
In 2013 he returned to SuperSport. He spent a season on loan at City in 2016, and left SuperSport to join Chippa the following year. But he returned to City in 2018, where he was a key player until his injury last year.
