South African actor, Gregg Pettigrew, accused of fatally shooting is set to appear in court for the first time on Wednesday.
The 51-year-old is accused of shooting and killing a 29-year-old lover Jean Daren.
Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi stated that the suspect was reported to have taken an overdose of medication. He was escorted to the hospital under police protection.

According to Nevhuhulwi, the accused was scheduled to appear in the Kempton Magistrate’s Court on murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition charges.
The motive for the shooting is unknown to police.
SurgeZirc SA reported that the suspect had acted in local soapie “7de Laan”.
Shortly after the incident, the soapie and SABC 2 issued a statement indicating that the suspect was not a member of the current crew.
“As it stands, we have no knowledge of the identity of the individual involved and would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family and friends.

“Production has made efforts to establish whom the said individual might be. However, as per the law, a suspect’s identity cannot be disclosed until such time that they have been formally charged.”
They added that the suspect was an actor who had featured in several South African soap operas but which programmes they were was unclear.
