Orlando Pirates wing-back Thabiso Lebitso has opened up on the emotions and reasons for his screamer in the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs.
Lebitso, 32, joined the Buccaneers in January and has since grabbed his opportunity with both hands.
His stunning goal from outside the 18-yard box in the derby won him the Goal of the Month award and he says he always knew he had such a strike in him.
“It’s a really great feeling to score the goal, because as a midfielder, now [even] defender you quite don’t get the chance to score goals but I scored one of the goals so far in my career, so it’s a great feeling,” he told SuperSport.
“If you maybe you can come here at training, that’s when the goalkeepers will tell you ‘ey, this one hits the ball too hard’.
“It’s one of the potentials I do have and that’s when I decided to take the shoot because it’s one of the capabilities.”
Pirates return to action on Saturday when they will host AmaZulu in a replay of last week’s Nedbank Cup quarter-final that saw the Buccaneers beat Usuthu 4-2.
