SAPS nails dangerous gang before robbery

The police acted on information which they had received regarding this gang and made sure that they ended their mission. This became the talk of the town in the area as we got into the Easter holiday.

 



 

Two pistols and a high caliber rifle were seized by the officers as they arrested four suspects who were on the verge of carrying out a robbery.

 



In a media statement which was explaining the circumstances surrounding the foiled robbery, the members of the South African Police Servicesclaimed that the suspects were about to carry out a robbery at a bottle store located in Sebokeng Zone 7. A multi disciplined team which comprised of Crime Intelligence Unit, Sedibeng K9 Unit, Sedibeng Task Team, Flying Squad and the Sedibeng Tactical Response Team made the follow up on information they had received.

They surrounded an area close to a bottle store and began keeping a close eye. At exactly 17:15, a vehicle which matched a description which had been given was given. Seven armed robbers entered the bottle store.

The officers decided to approach them and the suspects opened fire towards them. A massive shootout ensued and it ended when four of the suspects got arrested. Three of the suspects fled from the scene and the officers recovered three firearms as well as ammunition.



The vehicle which the suspects had was found to have been stolen in Vereeniging.

This operation made many believe that our police officers are capable of dealing with crime. The firearms which the suspects had were taken for ballistic testing to ascertain their role in other crimes which were recorded in this country.

In the next few days, the arrested suspects will be making an appearance in court. The outstanding suspects are still being hunted down by the police.
