AmaZulu midfielder Ben Motshwari has sent a warning to his former side Orlando Pirates ahead of their Nedbank Cup quarter-final on Saturday evening.
Pirates hammered AmaZulu’s provincial rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows 7-1 in the league in Soweto last weekend, with Tshegofatso Mabasa being the star of the show with a hat-trick.
Now Pirates travel to Moses Mabhida Stadium for the cup tie on Saturday, with both of sides looking to progress in the Ke Yona Cup.
Motshwari, who joined the KZN-based outfit at the beginning of the season from the Sea Robbers, was asked if Usuthu are wary of the attack they might get from the Buccaneers, but the 33-year-old boldly stated that Pablo Martins’ charges can go pound for pound with Pirates.
“It also goes with the approach you know and we are not Golden Arrows,” Motshwari told media.
“I think they had a different game plan approaching that match. I don’t know what they [Arrows] were doing, as they were hammered seven.
“But for us it’s going to be a different ball game altogether. For us, we are cautious. Yes, they scored seven goals, hopefully they have finished those goals against Arrows.
“You know coming here is not going to be easy for them. So we are going to give them a tough time.
“I think we do have the quality players that can play football and that can go pound to pound with them.
“Yes they are a big team, we respect them but this is football and anything can happen.”
