Trinityhouse Little Falls emerged victorious in the D League Inter High swimming gala, competing against Benoni High School, King David Linksfield, Fourways High School, and Beaulieu College, accumulating an impressive 754 points.
Principal Shaun Hansel shared that this achievement will lead the school’s swimmers to progress to the C League in 2025.
Ryan Botha showcased outstanding swimming skills by breaking records in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle events.
Ethan Engelke narrowly missed breaking the record in the 200m freestyle but did set a new record in the 50m butterfly.
The U14, U17, and Open Mixed Relay teams from the school all set new records in their respective events.
In addition, Trinityhouse swimmers participated in the Prestige Gala at St Stithians to round off the season.
Shaun mentioned, “To qualify for the Prestige Gala, swimmers had to place first or second at the Inter-High. Our outstanding performance at Inter-High resulted in 20 swimmers qualifying for the Prestige Gala.”
He added, “Most of our swimmers achieved top-10 placements in all their events.”
Notable achievements included Gianluca Torricelli winning silver in the senior boys’ 200m individual medley and bronze in the open 50m breaststroke. Ethan Engelke secured gold in both the U17 50m backstroke and U17 50m butterfly events. Ryan Botha set a new record and won gold in the U14 50m freestyle event, along with a silver in the U14 50m backstroke.
Trinityhouse Little Falls also clinched bronze with the open relay team in the open mixed medley relay and the U14 relay team in the U14 freestyle relay event, leading the school to a third-place finish overall on the leaderboard.
