R16m illicit cigarettes and R50k cash seized in Limpopo from Zimbabwe

Over R16 million of illicit cigarettes seized in Limpopo province ealier this afternoon.

While Minister of Finance Tito Mboweni was delivering the budget speech to fellow South Africans, Limpopo police was also on duty seizing Remington Gold smuggled from Zimbabwe.

Earlier today SANDF was on a patrol in Samora Machel Monument when they heard a revving engines in the bushes. They went to assist the car or to see what was happening, to their surprise they found two Toyota Hilux bakkies stucked in the mud.

Later SANDF discovered that these two cars are stolen cars and they were heading to Zimbabwe. SANDF soldiers then decided to follow the trails in that road and found another three cars also stucked in the mud. Guess what? They were also stolen!

R50 000 hard cash seized from abandoned truck.

While on that, the driver abandoned the load with R50 000 hard cash which was found hidden in the truck. The truck was cleared on the Zimbabwean side as bananas.
