As Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis prepares to name a final squad for Olympic qualifiers against Tanzania, she admits the selection process is becoming tougher.
Banyana will take on Tanzania away on the 23rd of February, before the return leg at Mbombela Stadium on the 27th.
Ellis has already been doing mini-camps with goalkeepers and local players, and says now that the final selection, set to be confirmed on Friday, needs players to raise their hands.
“It’s becoming more and more difficult to select players,” Ellis told SAFA media.
“It’s becoming more and more difficult to tell someone they haven’t made it. There’s a couple of injuries with players who are not available. It doesn’t make it any easier. It’s still difficult.
“And it’s up to the players to raise their hands, like we always say you raise your hand, we’ll have a look at you. Obviously some raise their hands more than others, but it’s up to the players to be able to raise their hands for us to make the final selection.
“But I can tell you now, it’s not going to be easy at all.”
