In a shocking turn of events, the South African police have assured Mbuyiseni Ndlozi of the EFF that they are there (Pretoria Church Square) to protect him and the red berets during the protest.
The EFF declared today as a national shutdown though the protest kicked off on the eve of 20 March 2023 and recorded many arrests by the police in the early hours of Monday, 20 March.

During the national shutdown, EFF members were seen gathering in Pretoria’s Church Square to peacefully march and sing around the Paul Kruger Monument. Thus far, Pretoria has been rather calm, with streets open and traffic running but a heavy police presence.
The protest is also on in different parts of the country and could be described as the mother of all shutdowns as the EFF claimed.
Ndlozi who also joined the protest in Pretoria is seen interacting with police officers. The one police officer then tells him that they cleared the road for them. They even moved the buses.
