Black Brain Pictures, the production company behind e.TV’s Isitha: The Enemy, has come out to rubbish reports that it’s star sector Zamani Mbatha has been fired.
This comes after entertainment commentator Phil Mphela announced on Thursday that the much-loved actor has been let go by popular telenovela.
In a post on X, Mphela wrote: “Zamani Mbatha fired from Isitha-TheEnemy. Mbatha plays the lead character of Khaya on the etv telenovela. No word on whether the role on the hit show will be recast.”
MANDLA N SAYS ZAMANI MBATHA HAS NOT BEEN FIRED FROM ‘ISITHA: THE ENEMY’
However, speaking to Zimoja, Black Brain Pictures co-founder, Mandla Ngcongwane (known as Mandla N), said that the reports were not true.
“The management team was surprised to wake up to the news about Mbatha’s alleged firing,” he told the publication.
“Zamani Mbatha has been an integral part of the show’s success and there is no truth to these rumours. He is still a part of the show,” Mandla N added.
The creative director shared that viewers should brace themselves for more explosive drama, intrigue and surprises in the second Season.
“We have a lot of juicy plot twists coming soon. Who knows maybe someone will come back from the dead? You just wait and see.”
Mandla N further revealed that upcoming changes in the production and cast “will be communicated as an official statement from the production house.”
HOW THE RUMOURS ALLEGEDLY BEGAN
According to a source, rumours about Zamani Mbatha being fired were fuelled by the revelation that he he is still negotiating his contract.
“That is how the rumour came about. His fate has not yet been determined but he has not been fired.
“At the moment, he does not know where he stands, let us put it that way. It was a similar case when Smoke & Mirrors was in talks with Zolisa. At the moment, e-TV shows are all under scrutiny and some contracts will not be renewed,” said the source.
