Cape Racing chairman Greg Bortz made the bold statement in a new video addressing racegoers ahead of the return to racing at the track as the old venue continues to undergo a major rebuild.
“Our objective when we came in was to save racing. That’s changed now,” Bortz said in the video.
“We have more lofty goals; the ambition now is to turn Hollywoodbets Kenilworth into one of the top five racecourses in the world.”

Bortz admitted things weren’t fully ready for the recent Grade 2 Cape Punters’ Cup race day, saying: “Where are we? A third of the way, maybe 40%.
“I’m expecting things to go wrong; I just can’t tell you what they are!”
In addition to the new catering and betting facilities are a new saddling ring and grandstand seats, winner’s circle, state of the art sound equipment, a steakhouse, padel courts and an auditorium for horse sales and music concerts.
Some 400-plus construction workers are on site working on completing the transformation of the race course.
Horse racing enthusiasts are encouraged to pop into Hollywoodbets Kenilworth and view the changes first-hand.
