Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has sent a message of support to Burnley striker Lyle Foster after his club confirmed he is receiving special treatment due to mental health issues.
Last week, English Premier League side Burnley FC announced the news that Foster “is currently in the care of specialists” after missing three matches.
The Orlando Pirates youth product was then excluded from the Bafana squad that is set to face Benin and Rwanda.
On behalf of the team, Bafana captain Williams sent a heartfelt message to Foster, wishing him well and a speedy recovery.
“To Lyle Foster, from the team, obviously we miss him, he’s in our thoughts, he’s in our prayers,” Williams said.
“We just hope that everything goes well for him, and he can return to what he does best which is to play football.
“He’s got our love and support.”
Foster started his inaugural Premier League season with three goals and two draws in his first seven appearances. Foster has also scored three goals for Bafana so far.
