Johannesburg Emergency Services are on high alert as more rainfall is expected on Tuesday.
Hailstorms hit several parts of Johannesburg on Monday night, causing damage to vehicles and flooding houses.
In Soweto, emergency services rescued a woman who had fallen into a drain and took her to the hospital.
Joburg Emergency Services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi reported no fatalities.
“We remain on high alert, monitoring all seven regions in the City of Johannesburg. We urge motorists to drive with caution and residents in low-lying areas, especially informal settlements, to avoid crossing river streams. Children should stay away from these areas to prevent further incidents throughout the day.”
Meanwhile, emergency services responded to a structural incident at the Southern Sun Hotel in Rosebank last night due to the stormy weather.
One person suffered minor injuries to his left arm and was transported privately to a nearby hospital.
