A year ago, the American musician came across a video of Aphiwe singing in her classroom. He shared the video on his social media and praised her incredible voice.
Brown sampled the song Aphiwe sang and acknowledged her contribution on his latest album.
South Africans who learned of his recognition of the young girl applauded the international star.
