The investigating officer in the corruption case against former Eskom CEO Matshela Koko and 18 others stated that the trial could proceed without three accused who reside abroad.
The unnamed officer was cross-examined by the defense at the Middleburg Specialised Crime Court in Mpumalanga.
This comes after the defense claimed that the state’s investigation would not be completed in the near future.
The court is currently conducting an inquiry following a request from the accused to have the matter removed from the docket.
Koko and the other accused were apprehended last year in relation to the construction of the Kusile Power Station near Emalahleni.
