South Africans have asked President Cyril Ramaphosa for a public holiday on Monday, 23 October after both the Springboks and the Proteas secured convincing wins against England in the Cricket World Cup and Rugby World Cup.
The Proteas dethroned the world champions, England by 229 runs at the celestial Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai followed by the Springboks 16-15 win against England in the semi-finals of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
The South African cricket team rallied behind the Boks and stated: “Over to you, Bokke, the Proteas got the job done in Cricket World Cup clash against England.”
South Africans took social media to celebrate the double England victories on Saturday by both the cricket team and rugby team.
