Al Wahda head coach Pitso Mosimane praised the signing of Percy Tau during his time Al Ahly SC.
Mosimane was heavily criticised by football supporters for signing Tau from English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion after a lack of game time at the English side.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has been phenomenal since joining ‘The Red Devils’ of Egypt, having won six trophies including the CAF Champions League title and a bronze medal at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Speaking with Abu Dhabi Sport TV, Mosimane stated that there were a lot of questions when he signed Tau at Al Ahly. He emphasized that Tau is one of the best players currently in Africa.
“We had that kind of relationship where we bring in players, like Percy Tau from South Africa, and everybody says, ‘You’re bringing in a player from South Africa, this is Al Ahly, he is the best player. By the way, he comes from the English Premier League. He doesn’t come from anywhere; he was in the English Premier League, to bring a player like that,” Mosimane told Abu Dhabi Sport TV.
“I know African players because Africa is my space, my paradise, my everything, so I know African players and African players understand, and I have a good understanding with them. So any African player knows me. It can also be an advantage for Al Wahda to bring in the right quality, top quality.”
