Hlompho Kekana has shared his thoughts on what would make Mamelodi Sundowns’ season a success as they have already lost the MTN8 and Carling Knockout Cup.
Over the past seasons, Sundowns have been bossing the PSL, winning many trophies.
During this campaign, there are six different competitions they are participating in. These are namely; the DStv Premiership, MTN8, Carling Knockout Cup, CAF Champions League, African Football League and the Nedbank Cup.
They have been enjoying a great run in the league as they have won their eight opening matches. However, they have been unlucky in cup competitions.
Two weeks ago, they lost the MTN8 final to Orlando Pirates on penalties. And on Wednesday, they were handed a defeat by TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals via the penalty shootout.
HLOMPHO KEKANA SAYS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS SHOULD AT LEAST WIN FOUR TITLES
According to the former Sundowns captain, Kekana, the Tshwane giants should at least win four titles to have a great campaign.
“If you take four [trophies] you would have done well because remember we are talking about the team that is very, very ambitious,” Kekana told PitchsidePodcast.
“When you’re ambitious you look for everything that is around and is available. You must try and go for it.
“Of course, the reality of football says you can’t win everything, but when you want to win everything go for everything.
“A team like Mamelodi Sundowns have tested this glory before, they’ve done a triple in one season before. So it should not be a problem, but it’s going to be a problem because everybody else is gunning against you.”
HLOMPHO KEKANA ANTICIPATING A DIFFICULT SEASON
Kekana further stated that he anticipates a tough season ahead.
“The boys know the pressure that comes with winning football matches and the pressure that comes with winning trophies. I’m anticipating a tricky season,” Kekana added.
