Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki is definitely feeling the heat.
Just barely three months into the job and Amakhosi fans are demanding the management to ‘pull the trigger’ on the former Bafana Bafana coach.
After seven games, Chiefs lie eighth on the PSL log having just won two games so far this season. The worrying factor though is that they have already suffered their third defeat of the campaign which sees them 13 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs fans once again attack Molefi Ntseki
This Saturday, Molefi Ntseki’s side resumes a battle with Downs in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-finals. The Brazilians are unbeaten this season and for Chiefs to overcome them and reach their first domestic final in four years, they need to win at least force a goal-scoring draw. A 1-1 draw though will take the match to penalties.
On Wednesday, a group of angry Chiefs fans threw objects at Ntseki following their 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The pressure is mounting on the former Bafana Bafana coach and anything less than a victory could anger the fans more. Should Amakhosi play well and lose against Downs, supporters might be forgiving but a poor performance might see a repeat of Wednesday’s actions.
The only thing that can calm Khosination is for Chiefs to lift the MTN8.
“I think they [supporters] are disappointed because they are looking at the performances of the team. The expectation for us is to win games,” said Ntseki after the match.
“If you don’t win games like this and the one we played last week, obviously the supporters are disappointed. As much as they are disappointed I think we have a good team and a good game.
Chiefs need to beat Sundowns to calm fans
“The players are performing to the best of their abilities and I think the plan worked out against SuperSport. It’s just that we conceded very early,” said the Chiefs coach.
Last month, Ntseki was struck by a police personnel’s shield while being escorted from the field following his side’s 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy.
