Swallows FC and Cape Town City were both charged by the Premier Soccer League prosecutor Zola Majavu.
Swallows find themselves in hot water over issues relating to their fixture against City – a game they won 3-2.
“The first one is against Swallows Football Club, they stand charged of the commencement of their fixture against Cape Town City,” Majavu confirmed on Tuesday.
“And also amending their team sheet without notifying their opposing team as well as the match officials as prescribed in terms of the rules.
“They will appear this coming Thursday at 4pm in the afternoon.”
In addition, City were also charged by the PSL DC over their new sponsorship deal with FNB.
“The second case concerns Cape Town City, which stands charged for failure to obtain prior approval from the PSL Executive Committee in accordance with the compliance Manuel prior to the conclusion of a new ornamented sponsorship agreement with a particular bank,” Majavu explained.
“In accordance with the rules, they ought to have sought approval prior to concluding the agreement. In this instance the allegations against them are that they did it the other way around – they concluded the agreement and once that agreement was concluded and effective, only then did they decide approach the Executive Committee of the league for approval a few days later.
“They will appear before the DC next week Monday at 6:30pm.”
