Zwane – There Was A Lapse Of Concentration

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has shared his views after his side’s season-opening 1-0 loss to Royal AM in Durban on Saturday evening.

Speaking after the game, Zwane told SuperSport that he felt his team gave it their all, but weren’t able to take their chances. He said they need to learn from this game, and rectify their mistakes before their next fixture.

“Ja, I think we started very slow,” Zwane told SuperSport.

“We gave them a goal that they did not deserve. You could see things, first minute they got a corner, from that corner, there was a lapse of concentration, then we conceded from that corner.

“But I think from there on, it was more like a wake-up call. We created I don’t know how many ones-v-ones, in terms of goalscoring opportunities. I mean, if the don’t goalkeeper is the man of the match, that alone tells you that he’s the one who saved them.

“But ja, I think second half though we did not create enough chances in terms of being clinical. The energy levels dropped. But we kept our composure in the middle, though, I believe we could have done better in some instances, where we should have, go to collect the ball, being half turned so that you can be able to see the runners going forward, and we opted to control the ball facing our own goals then allow them to regroup.

“But it’s our first game and I think we’re on the right track. I’m proud of the boys’ efforts. I think they gave their all today unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.”
