Another cold front is set to hit Gauteng by Sunday morning just as resident sthought the weather was warming up nicely.
For Sunday, Gauteng will experience a cold and sunny day with temperatures ranging between 10°C and 13°C in most regions, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).
The cold front is expected to last for the rest of the week as maximum temperatures drop to the low and mid-teens.
In recent weeks, the province has suffered a series of cold spells, which included the first snowfall in 10 years. This week however, the SA Weather Service has not predicted snow or rain for Gauteng but did warn of strong winds on Saturday night going into the early hours of Sunday.
North West, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo are the other provinces that will get hit by the cold front on Sunday.
Cold front makes way to Gauteng
This weekend, Eskom pleaded with the public to switch off non-essential appliances like geysers and swimming pool pumps to alleviate pressure on the national grid.
“The system is constrained due to the weather. We ask you to assist by reducing electricity, especially at 17:30 and 20:30,” said the power utility.
Eskom said the country could be heading for higher stages of loadshedding if pressure on the grid persists throughout the weekend.
