Newly promoted DStv Premiership outfit Cape Town Spurs are mulling over a highly rated Brazilian star as they look to beef up their squad ahead of the new season.
The Urban Warriors are busy preparing for the new season after gaining promotion to the topflight via the playoffs.
They have already retained the services of Michael Morton, Cohen Stander, Nazeer Allie, Logan Brown, Zama Dlamini, Leo Thethani, Morne Nel, Therlo Moosa, Lubeni Haukongo, Colin Ryan and Jarrod Moroole.
CAPE TOWN SPURS IMPRESSED BY BRAZILIAN
Siyanda Msani and Luvuyo Phewa will spend the season with them on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Msani spent the 2022/23 season at Richards Bay, while Phewa enjoyed a successful stint with Spurs last season.
FARPost can confirm that Spurs currently have a highly-rated Brazilian defender Sergio Raphael training with them.
The 30-year-old has reportedly impressed and the club will make a decision at the end of this week.
The towering Brazilian spent last season at Al Merrikh of Sudan after three seasons in Malta.
He arrived in Malta when he joined Ħamrun Spartans before moving to Sirens. The Sirens stint will likely be memorable for him after he helped them to a historic qualification to the UEFA Europa League.
Should Raphael sign at Spurs, he could further strengthen the defensive options for Coach Shaun Bartlett.
SUCCESSFUL STINT IN MALTA
Raphael was born in Rio Di Janeiro on the 23rd of October 1992. He started his career at Duque de Caxias in Brazil before joining EC Bahia, Bangu-RJ, CRB, Tigres and Macae in his native Brazil.
His Malta switch happened in 2016, which was his first spell out of his birth country.
Following his successful stint in Malta, he moved to Saudi Arabia, where he turned out for Al-Ain FC.
That was followed by a brief spell in Bolivia where he played for Oriente Petrolero.
His next home was the Sirens, where he achieved the historic qualification to the Europa League qualifying round.
