Twitter: Do you want an “Edit button”? Asked Elon Musk

Avid Twitter user and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has become Twitter’s largest shareholder after buying a 9.2% stake in the microblogging site.

At 9.2% the stake is worth nearly $3 billion and has triggered a 25% increase in the company’s shares.

The South African-born philanthropist now owns 73.5 million Twitter shares. This, however, comes as no surprise as the world’s richest man has hinted on numerous occasions about the possibility of creating a new social media platform while questioning Twitter’s policies and commitment to free speech.

Since joining the social media platform in 2009, Elon Musk has gained more than 80 million followers.

Now that Elon is Twitter’s largest shareholder this will seemingly pose a new challenge for newly appointed Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, especially since Elon has been very critical of the app.

Agrawal was appointed as CEO in November 2021 when Jack Dorsey stepped down as the chair and CEO of Twitter.

One day as the largest shareholder at Twitter, Elon has already taken charge as he shared a poll on Twitter asking users if they wanted an ‘edit’ button on the app.
