Award-winning South African rapper and hip-hop artist Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, popularly known as Riky Rick, is topping the Twitter Trends list as rumours of his alleged suicide are doing the rounds on the social media platform.
Although his family is yet to release an official statement, Riky Rick allegedly took his life at his estate home in the north of Johannesburg on Wednesday morning 23 February.
According to Sunday World, a source close to the situation alleged that the rapper was found by his management team at about 8.30am. Apparently he was rushed to a nearby hospital as he was still alive.
NOTE: This is a developing story. At the time of publishing, his family was yet to release an official statement confirming his death.
After the rumours started circulating on social media, tweeps took the 34-year-old rapper’s last tweet — “I’ll return a stronger man. This land is still my home.” — as confirmation that he contemplated suicide.
Popular gossip page Maphepha Ndaba has also reported that the rapper allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself.
“South African rapper Riky Rick has committed suicide. Friends found him hanging. The sad news is already circulating amongst top celebrities in the country,” read the tweet.
Riky Rick has been in the news lately after a video of himself and his wife, Bianca Naidoo, went viral for all the wrong reasons. The video showed the rapper dancing with his wife Bianca Naidoo. However, she seemed “uncomfortable” which made tweeps were questioning the state of his marriage.
Tweeps are in shock and praying the news is not true. Take a look…
“I’m so hurt, rest in peace Riky Rick,” tweeted @BuhleSobs.
Tweeps also acknowledged the video of his wife that was trending.
“We couldn’t be kind to Ricky Rick when he released that video… but now we are preaching ‘be kind you don’t know what people are going through’ when he has allegedly passed on,” tweeted @tintswalomegacy.
