Covid-19 – We will walk to town, says limpopians refusing to use taxis because of this



Covid-19 is now attacking Polokwane taxi rank, about 8 taxi drivers have tested positive for covid-19 last week alone. Now people are afraid to use taxis saying they rather walk to their destinations than to use limpopo local taxis.

Charles Ramogale the city tycoon is the last victim to be buried on Monday, the cause of his death is due covid-19. This are sad news for taxi industry in Limpopo, the business now going to see itself on a down fall of making money.


Limpopo taxi industry is not the only business that has been affected by this pandemic, but the whole world in broad. Companies like SAB are also been affected, multi thousands of employees has lost their job and reported that there will be job cut again in the future.

Madiseng Langa, Lebogang Machaka and David Makweya are one of the taxis drivers and owners who have died due this covid-19. Now residents are afraid to use taxis saying they rather walk to their destinations.


Noko Mokwetedi Spokesperson for the Moletjie Taxi Association says now they have asked the government to intervene because commuters don’t want to comply with health protocols. Now that there’s covid-19 in the taxi industry, they are distancing themselves.
